Malaysian Hindu Sangam Combats Youth Alcoholism

MALAYSIA, February 8, 2010: The Malaysian Hindu Sangam has declared war on the alcoholism that is afflicting the younger generation, reported Tamil Nesan. Its Youth leader Arun Doraisamy said under-aged drinking should be an offense punishable by two days in the lock-up.
Speaking at the forum Alcohol Laws in Malaysia 2010: National Review of Alcohol Laws, Policies and Programmes, organized by the group, in Petaling Jaya on Saturday, he suggested raising the age limit for alcohol consumption from 18 to 21. He also called for the setting up of a center in the long-term to handle prevention, research and rehabilitation.
